Arm Your Car Alarm in Silence

Back in the late eighties car alarms became widespread. It didn’t matter if you were driving a Ford Festiva or Cadillac Eldorado; if you bought a car, you got an alarm.

Along with this new sense of security came a key ring clicker. Hit the button, and the alarm is activated. This is verified by the alarm sounding briefly, usually in the form of a horn honk or single chime. This sounder tells you, and the world, ‘don’t come near my car, it’s alarmed.’ This might have been an effective security measure two decades ago, but in this day and age, it doesn’t help. Not one bit. So cut it out!

I have friends who park in front of my house and BEEP, they arm their cars. Last I checked, my hood was pretty safe.

I have family members who drive to the mall and BEEP, they alarm their cars. Guess what, you just signaled every would-be robber, carjacker and rapist that you are either exiting or entering your car. Well done!

I have a wife who parks in the driveway and BEEP, she alarms the car. This must not only annoy me, but our neighbors on the other side.

Most modern day cars share the same functionality: click once to lock/unlock doors, click twice to get the sounder. Jack of All Blogs is asking you nicely to please only click once. Change starts with you, so make a difference today and keep noise pollution down to a minmum. There are plenty of a-hole drivers who will make up the difference. BEEP!
