Heck- What was I saying?

Sometimes I feel like a right idiot....and this is such a time.

I forgot to mention two other characteristics of a real Cowboy- he’s stubborn as hell, but if he’s wrong, he’s not afraid to admit it….

Yesterday, Mr David Krug got in touch with me and-:

a. Offered to pay up front the next 3 months worth of revenue, including shopzilla, revenews et al.

b. To buy the blog back off us if we weren’t happy.

So there is me in the doghouse feeling like a schmuck…
.

I have to retract yesterday’s post and issue a full apology to Mr David Krug.

Not only that, a client of mine who has also become a friend- really stood up for Mr David Krug as a character witness and it really is true that Mr Krug has been away from his desk this past month or so. He backed up both Mr Krug’s good character in general and good intentions as far as this deal was concerned.

One of the comments in reply to my post yesterday left this link, which I read with some horror…it was so vitriolic and hateful- it got me thinking from Mr Krug’s perspective- of what he has to put up with in his Warholesque quest to bring “personality” and “fame” into blogging- and I sure as hell am not on jumping on that bandwagon. Childish, nasty and completely OTT.

As far as we are concerned (when will this damn story be put to bed?) – the complaints of Mr Dan Zarella have been settled. Here is the low-down in case any of you haven’t read about this before-: Celebrity Cowboy. As far as I know, Dan has had his $500 refunded and there is no content on this blog written by him. Correct me if I’m wrong. The fact that the story continues to run is probably just a time delay, owing to sites like Blog Network Watch which previously reported the story and linked it to hysterical anti-Krug blogs like Gonzo Musings.

So maybe enough said...... It’s a hard word to say, especially for a stubborn Taurean Dog Cowboy like myself (well, former cowboy actually)- but here it is-: A slap on the back and a bear hug SORRY to Mr David Krug....the ads are back up and please forgive my impulsive post yesterday- written without due care and diligence.

20 feisty cowboys

  1. Actually to be fair to Blog Network Watch, Matt and the team at Blogmedia are pretty pro cowboy.

None the less nice to see it’s resolved, and it bides well for you that you can admit mistakes and say your sorry in public…far few people seem to embrace this as a positive thing to do these days..personally I think its a positive, after all, no one is perfect.

  2. Yeah, there’s a few pro-cowboy folks. Nice to see we could get this resolved Mark.

  3. I have not been refunded yet.
Krug himself said that his bank reported an error in the transfer.
    So i’m still waiting.

  4. The story continues to rage, ha

Champ, check the dates: today is the 18th … and at my “hysterical anti-Krug blog” the post was written on the 3rd – that’s 2 weeks ago (a long time in the blogosphere !!). Things change. There’s a whole lot more behind all this shit with DK - it’s a love/hate thing over nearly 12 months. Lately it’s love: he’s doing good with The PopCrunch Show.

At least with DK (and his craziness at times here) this blog had some character – now it’s just plain idiotic, and you are an idiot, champ!.

I think you’ve missed the boat on the snark cruise – that left a long time ago.

But forgive me oh “real” cowboy, I’m just being hysterical ;-)

  5. Dan- I haven’t received the promised 3 months revenue via Paypal yet either, but at some point you have to take someone at their word, no? So this retraction written in good faith. I’m sure you will receive the funds.

  6. Umm, i’m not stirring anything up. Our role is to report the news, and that’s what we do.

Your facts in your post on bloggy news – where you don’t allow comments (ARGH!) – are also wrong.

Duncan writes for The Blogging Times, not for Blog Network Watch.

Get your information right before you start spouting off about how we’re ‘stirring’ up things.

    Pathetic.

  7. “but at some point you have to take someone at their word, no”

See thats the thing, dealing with Krug, taking his word is a dangerous thing, actually taking his written word is equally dangerous, as he’s not denying the existence of the agreement he and I made, the evidence of which is plain for anyone to see.

you know what would be funny, if you paid more than I did (or was going to) for this blog.
I think you’ll find the stats and revenue considerably less than initially reported. Especially with the SEO and 404 problems the site has.

  9. Loren – have you ever seen so much flip-flopping going on from post to post?

A “real” cowboy wouldn’t be as pussy wimpy as this shmuck has been – maybe he’s playing with toy guns and shooting blanks (aka all talk).

  10. In short, some responses:
Duncan- thank you and Bloggy News error corrected.
    David- no probs.
Matt – okay, I can’t see where it says that you are stirring it up, plus see above. I’ve never been called pathetic in my life, but ah well- no doubt it won’t be the last time.
Martin/Loren- I can’t understand why you are writing abusive messages. A bit of humility wouldn’t be out of place. Where do you people find the time?
Dan- time will tell, I guess.

because you called me “hysterical” and I take offense at that! :-)

Are you sure you’re a former “real” cowboy – you don’t sound like one. You sound more like a …

Whatever This blog died a long time ago. Smell ya later.

  14. Martin- If this isn’t an “hysterical anti-Krug blog”, I don’t know what is-:
“Krug, that totally untalented and inept mental midget has a new venture going (another one???).
Check it out, but don’t laugh … feel sorry for the focker.”
And whether I worked as a ranch hand or not is besides the point.

Bottom line is, new owner here has acted in good faith and even apologised publically.. how often do we see that? He deserves respect, as the first comment implied. Best of luck to him.

  18. Hey, I’m over here. I have no hard feelings towards Martin, towards any one.

Let bygones be bygones. You dont have to do business with me or my pyramid scheming partners. Oh woops secrets out of the bag.

    admin,
You still want to wait for Shopzilla/et als payments or you want me to buy out the blog, or front you the shopzilla stuff?

Either way I’m game. Alexa stats dont mean anything btw. Isnt it revenue that matters?

Where else in the world could you make 100% return on investment in less than a year. Besides a garden of course.

Celebrity Cowboy said this on August 18, 2006 7:55 pm

  19. so, david, plan to issue that refund to me?

Dan Zarrella said this on August 18, 2006 8:49 pm

  20. I don’t get it with all this Alexa thing. I’ve never used it and I don’t know too many others in my area of niche who has.

I don’t understand why we put so much weight on it – correct me if I’m wrong.

Now if it was installed into every browser then yes I might take notice, but the Alexa tool as far as I know, is used by the geek/webmaster set and not the mainstream – and mainstream is where you make your money from.

100% return from your garden, David C’mon man, what are you smoking :-) at least 500% return easily…
