PIcking up girls on the blogosphere (Gaining Celebrity Status aint so hard really)

If Brad Pitt is the hottest man on the planet your one step closer to understanding what makes women drool. But what do internet readers really want.

Who’s the hottest blogger on the net? I’m not talking link popularity, I’m not talking anything but passionate readers. I’ve been conducting a survey in my brain of the bloggers with the most passionate readership base. I want to layout the secrets of their success. Or at least my opinion of their success. It’s the thing Paul Scrivens, Darren Rowse, Tyme White, Seth Godin, Robert Scoble, and Shel Israel all have. And Steve Rubel doesnt

.

One thing I learned a long time ago is girls want to be listened to. They want to be respected. What makes Brad Pitt so powerful is he is hotter than hell and to these girls even a look in their direction would make them feel secure. Make them feel noticed. We all want to be noticed. We all want attention. Even if its just a minute, five minutes, 15 minutes. It’s natural. There isn’t anything wrong with it. The more popular you are the better it feels when you notice us.

So now your wondering what the hell this has to do with blogging, and the blogosphere. Well the popular bloggers of the New Wave of Bloggers and Blogger Stardom are people that listen, engage, and have something to share. They aren’t afraid to sit around the campfire and share their story. They aren’t afraid to tell you how they got to where they are. In five years many of today’s A-Listers will be forgotten. Many of them will have quit blogging and gone on to hanging out in Greatful Dead bars and telling stories with the Blogging Veterans. The ones that will still be around will have done one thing right. They are the ones who aren’t afraid to interact. I see a lot of A-Listers creating more and more and more and more and more content. Mostly at the sacrifice of real interaction. I see folks like Steve Rubel, one of blogging’s chief evangelists so afraid to leave a fucking comment on his own blog but so unafraid to put out 10% more posts from month to month. Someone tell him he’s missing the point.

The point is commenting, interacting, and drawing people into the conversation. This is about conversation not sharing wisdom like its a fucking parade and you have the best candy. The more you throw out the more the kids will like you right? Wrong. The readers want interaction. And they want it now. If you are afraid to interact with your readers eventually your readers will leave. Maybe not today. Maybe not tommorow. But soon. You might keep your Google Search Readers. And you might be profitable. But your still a nobody in the readers eyes.
