Early Mid Life Crisis

I’m gonna talk about Scrivs in a positive light here folks. Someone slap me to make sure this blog post isn’t apart of a dream. Yes read the title. Scrivs is talking about 9rules its development and a few other things.

I’m gonna quote him here because this is exactly the way I felt at times :

Again we aren’t proud of everything we put out (because hindsight is a bitch) and don’t think we are perfect, but at least we know what we need to do to become proud of everything.

Streamlining my career habits

I struggled with this for a awhile with a few projects I was involved with. Right now I’m in the streamlining stages in life. Throwing out old career baggage. More about my past. In the last 8 or 9 months I’ve moved from a part time webpreneur/career restaurant worker/manager to a web development guy. It’s been a fun and sometimes rocky road.

At this point I’m ecstaic. But I’m learning a former restaurant worker has some bad habits. Like the amount of Mountain Dew I consume on a nearly daily basis. And only eating during non-normal times. I’m trying to get healthier and smarter every day. Even if that means breaking old habits.

Life Hacking my way out of bad habits:
1) Eating Healthier and smarter
Yes that means cutting out some pop, eating less carbs, excercising daily.

2) Learning something new every day
I’ve been trying to learn some new code daily. Whether that’s CSS,Javascript, or PHP.

Learning is something I haven’t done a whole lot of since high school. In any formal methodology. That’s changing. I’m getting better at CSS. Not anywhere near capable. But learning basic concepts, and lessons. You have to love tutorials. I want to be able to take pride in my work and in the work of the people around me.

The number one lesson my father taught me is the one that gets me by day in and day out.

This lesson has gotten me by up to this point in my life but what about tommorow. Maybe someone will actually call on me to be smarter than the competition. And I have to be ready to step up.
