Google buys portion of Amerika Offline and WIN
Google is turning into a huge big fucking idiot. They purchased a piece of Amerika Offline. While I often have agreed with Google’s Gobble Division this one doesn’t make any sense to me. Mostly because I think its a public relations nightmare waiting to happen. Personally this gives Google a stake in Weblogs Inc. which means I have no choice but to think Google will give WIN an edge in the search engine results that show up on AOLs search powered by Google. I mean it makes sense right?
So Google has now turned really evil, and has joined the evil squad Amerika Offline, now they don’t have to pay WIN the million or so dollars a year maybe they can negotiate a flat rate on their Google Ads. Huh, something to ponder anyhow. A winner for both sides.
Update:
Google is evil and a fucking sellout.

Google already has a relationship with AOL (10 percent of revenues) because it provides search on their portal. They’ve bought a 5 percent stake in AOL, which just firms up the existing relationship … and prevents Microsoft taking a huge leap as a search competitor.
I don’t think they really had much choice here. I agree though that if the talk about giving AOL preference in its search results is true, it’s a backward step from “pure” search.
