Yahoo knows SixApart Sucks
Yahoo knows SixApart sucks but they aren’t afraid to make a little money on them anyway. I mean hasn’t everyone and their brother noticed that the new Yahoo Music Blog is running Wordpress. Is this a vote of no confidence in MovableType? I recently had a chance to use MovableType while blogging at Blogebrity and I notice how shitty this product really is. I mean it has to republish everything over and over again, and its slow, bulky, and archaic. I used to use to MT but since they started charging for it, seems they stopped developing too which makes it one of the worst blogging applications available today for the cost.
How many of you use MT and why do you use it instead of Wordpress?

I actually started my blogging adventure with Movable Type… hated having to wait for an hour for the refresh everytime I changed something and hated the fact that I got spammed like crazy. Then I moved to Textpattern and it was alright, but I started looking into Wordpress and started using that for a small side-blog and fell in love with it…
Let’s just say Movable Type and TextPattern are ancient history that I don’t plan on repeating.

MT really is great….when you’ve got a blog you post to once a week so you don’t have to wait for it to rebuild for 4 hours

In fairness to 6A—the MT setup at Blogebrity runs exceptionally slow, b/c we’re running a few experimental plugins on there right now. I’m sure a Y!+MT install would be considerably faster.

Even the basic barebones MT install I run on my desktop runs slow Kyle.

He clearly says on there he did the ymusicblog of his own volition though. He even paid for the domain himself – it’s not an official Yahoo blog.
I’ve never used wordpress. We use MT cause that’s what I learned on and I’m too busy to switch over, transfer our content, and relearn. Is WP that much faster?

Brian: Hell yeah.
Cowboy: I would expect Yahoo to, uh, support “other” platforms in the next few weeks.
