Textdrive: Yet another sellout
Some of you may have heard that TextDrive sold to Joyent ( Press Release ).
There is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. TextDrive CEO Jason Hoffman apparently forgot how to handle his customers in the days leading up to the the big sale. According to Jeff Blaine the TextDrive executive called Mr. Blaine a “dick” and an “asshole” , then put a ticket into their (<—- notice correct usage) system to have his account cancelled.
This just shows that as a CEO of yet another sell out hosting company you can be under a lot of stress and that customers, us uber-bloggers don’t really mean anything at all. We are just a paycheck. Another handful of dollars on the way to the next big merger.
Web 2.0 is not so much different than Web 1.0 or the real world. Shitty people, Shitty Executives, Shitty Products, and Us Customers always getting the raw end of the deal.
Jason Hoffman had this to say about the merger:
What’s changing at TextDrive? Nothing, really: we’ll continue strong with shared hosting, and now also ramp up our dedicated and business hosting lines. Other than getting more disk space and bandwidth, current customers can expect things to be just as before, with all the improvements we’ve been discussing proceeding as planned. VC lifetime accounts will of course continue to be honoured, because TextDrive is still TextDrive.
Yes, Jason you are still TextDrive. You are still an asshole who doesn’t know how to take care of customers. Nothing changed we understand. Except now you are a sellout too. Welcome to the sellout club.
