Calacanis to end comments from AOL

Everyone heard that Peter Rojas is ending comments for now on Engadget. I heard it from Duncan and Nick. Well even more juicy was the recent email I got from Mark Cuban, who also happens to be a good buddy of mine.

David,
In response to your thoughts about Engadget. I totally agree.
I mean look at everything I have done to open up communication
over at my blog, and with the entire Dallas Mavericks organization.

I am really disappointed in Jason for doing this. It doesn’t seem to
make any sense with the direction that we were taking WeblogsInc.
before I left the company and he sold out to AOL.

I heard from Peter Rojas that Jason who has a tendency to blow up
and get upset quickly has fired off emails almost daily to any exec
over at AOL that criticizes him. It’s gotten so bad that Jason started
blocking anyone with an AOL email from contacting him. No joke.

I am glad to see your site doing so well, and all the hard work that
everyone at Fine Fools is putting in to creating a community of sites
that will give people an alternative to WeblogsInc. even though it
will always be my baby.

I am glad your reaching for the stars in your writing career. I knew
you had the talent. BTW, Did you ever call Paris back after you got
back from LA. She said you, Joe, and her went down to his place in
Tijuana. She called me and asked for your number. Anyhow. It’s
always good to hear from you. Next time your in Dallas we’ll grab
dinner.

Sincerely,
Mark Cuban

  3. Well, if you scramble all the letters up in “Terderma Ussery”, take some away, and add some others, it spells “Jason Calacanis”.

    Would you believe it??

The negotiations did happen right here in the comments section of this page. Barry Bell will continue ruining the site and his network. All 4 of his normal visitors will not be effected by the purchase. Barry said he hopes the sale will increase his visitors by at least ten percent over the course of the next month. Which means Barry is hoping that he gets at least one more visitor a day than he already does and he is hoping they reload the page at least one time. [...]

I have raised this previously and no matter what you think of the Jack of All Blog (Darren Rowse from ProBlogger and b5 finally lets loose (comment #25) – he does have a point about Duncan’s BlogHerald (he’s a co-owner of b5) … The biggest thing I am disappointed with at this point is that Duncan didn’t comment on this issue.
